dailylook LBD spring style challenge

While browsing through DailyLook's Little Black Dress collection, I was inspired to do a little LBD spring style challenge to style my favourite LBD from the collection. So, I picked out the Cross-back Skater Dress which has a cute cut out at the back as well. I went monochrome and a bit towards the preppy side with oxfords and a satchel but chucks and a backpack would do as well.

I added a comfy crochet cardigan because you never know when it might get cold! You could always switch it up to a blazer if you think that would fit the style more but I like being cozy and comfy so I opted for a cardigan.

For shoes, I chose oxfords because they give off a smart and preppy look so it plays with the casualness of the dress to make it look a bit sharper. Plus, the satchel bag also does its part as an accessory to make the outfit fun and playful.

If you're wondering what to wear underneath, I'd say to opt for a simple bra or bralette with sufficient padding to give the dress shape and so that the back strap can remain well hidden under the cross over part of the dress. You don't want your bra straps to be peeking out from the cutouts, do you?

Other accessories I used was a little dangly necklace to add more details to the dress and a classic vintage leather looking watch. The watch is definitely looking very versatile to mix and match with all kinds of looks.

So, what do you think? All the items here can be found on dailylook.com so do check them out for more adorable pieces.

charlotte russe march lookbook

This post is long overdue but I've been too busy to blog. For the month of March, I picked out another 6 spring outfits to style from Charlotte Russe. Most of the items should still be available so grab them while you can.

I had the theme of festival and Coachella in mind since it's spring time and spring break is around the corner so most of my outfits here are going to be boho stuff. I hope you guys like it.
The first look is a more grungy boho kind of style. I chose a graphic tee and paisley fringe kimono to go with it. Plus, the maroon shorts have some crochet details on the side so that's really nice. I like how the graphic tee has a braided back and fringed side cos that adds on to the boho vibes as well.
Top | Kimono | Shorts | Bag | Necklace | Flower crown
I'm actually wearing this top in the first photo of this post and I love it to bits. I think most of us picked this for our promotional posts but the Smalls ran out really fast. I got it in Medium and had to sew the sides in because it was far too big. Anyhow, I really like the idea of lace, denim and florals for festival outfits.
This is probably the only non-festive spring outfit in this lookbook but I still like it very much too. The cutout details are very cute and the crop top is form fitting in general, which makes it a perfect top to go with these adorable floral shorts with crochet detailing to them. Plus, I love these blush pink cutout oxfords which happen to be in the same colour theme as the outfit. The top does run big though, so I couldn't fit in it :(
This lace top actually has fringe to it but I would actually snip them off if I could because I think it looks cuter as a crop top. Paired it with these super flattering high waisted shorts, which I'm also wearing in the first photo, along with my DIY kimono, which you can check out on my youtube
The halter top over here isn't from CR but I thought it looked cute with these crochet trimmed paisley shorts. Plus, I wanted to style my halter a bit differently than what I would usually do - denim shorts.
TopShorts | Shoes
I absolutely love this outfit and it's one of my favourites because it's got all my favourite things in one look. This top is in a size L but it still fits me very well so I'm not sure if it really is a size L or a one size fits all kinda thing. It is very stretchy though, so don't worry. I like the halter style of this top and it doesn't compromise on the back so you can still wear a strapless bra underneath.
The last look over here features a pom pom trim cami and a gorgeous lace fringe kimono. It would make a great outfit for everyday wear as well.

diy: brandy melville graphic tees (updated)

I recently filmed and uploaded a new DIY video on my youtube channel. I did a blog post on these Brandy Melville inspired graphic tees over here last year and it has gone quite viral on pinterest so I decided to film it and make a new blog post with clearer instructions (maybe). I haven't changed much of the tutorial but I think it is more organised than my previous one. If you are too lazy to read, you can always watch the video tutorial. The pictorial was taken from the video anyway.

Materials:

  • Plain shirt / Flannel
  • Fabric paint
  • UHU glue
  • Craft knife
  • Sponge
  • Computer and printer
  • Cardstock
Instructions:
  1. The first thing to do would be to print out the stencil for the graphic tee by opening a word processing application and typing in your desired caption. You can choose any caption and font you like but make sure it is big enough. A good estimate would be to fill the entire sheet of paper. Also, you should use the landscape layout as it allows you to type over a bigger area. Some caption ideas for you:
    • Stay Weird - Times New Roman (145 pt)
    • You Can't Sit With Us - TradeGothicNo.20 Condensed (159 pt)
    • I Love You To The Moon and Back - Courier (50 pt)
    • Stressed Depressed But Well Dressed - Letter Gothic Std (89 pt)
  2. Once you've got that printed, take your craft knife and start cutting out the alphabets of the print. Make sure you keep the insides of alphabets such as 'o's and 'a's so that you can use them later.
  3. Lay your shirt flat out and slide a piece of cardstock underneath to prevent the paint from leaking through.
  4. Apply some UHU glue or any craft glue that makes very weak bonds onto the back of your stencil. If you are using the 'stay weird.' design, make sure you are glueing the right side of the stencil.
  5. Position and press your stencil into place.
  6. Then, using a sponge, take some fabric paint and dab the paint onto your shirt. Make sure to do this is small amounts because the paint can still leak underneath your stencil if you apply too much paint at one go.
  7. Once you are done, peel your stencil off and touch up any incomplete areas or uneven edges with a brush.
  8. You can now cut your tee into a muscle tank or crop top if you like. Otherwise, you're all done!
This tutorial is definitely not limited to plain graphic tees. You can do it on flannels as well and if you are more daring and artistic, you can go for a free handed design as well.

Charlotte Russe february lookbook

I am delighted to be working with Charlotte Russe to bring to you 6 different looks for February. I have included the links for the items that are still in stock. They run out fast so if you see something you like, you should definitely check out asap!
Look 1 features a classy and cool cross front crop top paired with a floral printed skater skirt. I threw on a cozy knitted cardigan as well for the transitional weather. A touch of gold completes the classiness of the outfit and balances out casual with cool from the overall vibe of the look.
You can never go wrong with lace, denim and floral. This boho inspired outfit has all the essentials you need to rock a festival. I picked an M for the top even though I typically wear a size S. It should fit fine on the average sized S girl but I think I might take in the sides because I'm skinny. The shorts are high waisted but they run a bit big so I recommend sizing down.
Links: Top, Cardi (OOS), Jeans, Necklace, Shoes, Bag (OOS), Sunnies
Another boho outfit with the same cropped top as above feature an open knit cardi, a studded fringe bag that I am super in love with and some ripped acid wash skinny jeans. I recommend sizing down on the jeans because they run big. I'm quite bummed that the bag is out of stock but you can check back because they may restock! It is a good size to fit many things and it looks so cute!
Links: Top, Skirt, Jacket, Socks, Bag, Sunnies
This look incorporates a henley top that I have been quite into lately. I paired it with a floral skirt but it would look great with other coloured skirts as well. I picked out a utility jacket to complete the look and I got it in a size L because it was the only size left. It is not too oversized so petite girls do not need to fret. I highly recommend the purse as well. It is actually a wallet because it has so many card holders and the compartments are spacious and not tight. The body strap is totally removable as well. Plus, it looks so cute!
T-shirt dresses are still in! This one comes with a nifty hood as well. I decided to pair it with this lightweight acid wash denim anorak which is soooo unique and interesting. It adds colour and texture to a simple outfit. The bucket bag is also so cute and it is the first bucket bag I own.
Links: Top, Flannel, Shorts, Bag, Sunnies
Me and my graphic tees. I really liked the print of this so I couldn't resist. I had to choose a super cool flannel to go with it as well so I chose this vintage looking one that had a NEW YORK print at the back as well. Definitely an interesting plaid shirt to add to the collection.
Links: Top, Skirt, Kimono, Bag, Sunnies
I think I am most excited about halter tops this Spring. I love the high neck cut and the exposed shoulders. I paired this lace one with a heather grey skirt and some florals for an extra girly look.

lightinthebox valentine's day lookbook

I got a bunch of items from Light In The Box and Mini In The Box to do a Valentine's Day themed lookbook or outfit ideas for you guys. I know it's still like a month away but it doesn't hurt to plan ahead and have something to look forward to. I didn't choose anything fancy like dresses or what not because I don't think many of us would splurge on a fancy new dress just for v-day unless it is a really special one for you. So, I put together some casual outfits with the help of versatile pieces that you should be able to find in your own closet as well. If you don't already have a similar item, then maybe it is time to consider getting some shopping done ;) I've placed the links to where you can find most of the items featured in my photos (if they are still in stock as I'm writing this post).
I got the new iPhone 6 recently and it was in need of a new cover. I watched a video online featuring this glittery case before but the shop it was from was selling it for over $30 which is just ridiculous. I found it on Mini In The Box (Glitter Quicksandfor less than $10 and it comes with free shipping as well. It is seriously pretty and I am obsessed with it. I'm currently using it right now and although it is a little thick and bulky, I actually do not mind because the iPhone 6 is so thin. Adding this case makes the iPhone 6 seem like the iPhone 5 and gives it the same shape as the iPhone 5, which is something I actually like. The case is filled with water and a whole bunch of glitter and stars. It is quite hard to remove so don't put it on until you are ready to stick with it for awhile. Mine developed an air bubble as well but it doesn't seem to be showing signs of expanding so I can still live with that. Check out this short clip that I filmed of the phone cover if you are still not convinced at how magical and glittery this phone case is. I highly recommend it and I will be going back for more colours.

The second case that I got is the clear case with a dreamcatcher print on it. This one is quite a popular design just because the dreamcatcher is so pretty. It's not the best and clearest print out but it's cheap so it is worth the buy. It will do the job in protecting the back of your phone and keeping it pretty. Very versatile as well and will go with any outfit.
Accessories are vital to any outfit. While it is still winter with spring just around the corner, you should have a stockpile of scarves and socks ready to keep you warm. However, if you have not prepared yourself for the cold, then grab some of these super cute infinity scarves and thigh high socks to stay in trend. The maroon and grey ones can be found here, while the pink and white cable knitted scarves can be found here. Cable knitted thigh highs can be found here, black thigh highs over here and the adorable lace trimmed socks are here.
Girl Next Door
Floral top - Forever 21 | Skirt - Lookbook Store | Booties - Cici Hot | Jacket - Styles For Less | Socks, Scarf - Light In the Box | Bow - Little Blue Garden
If you are going for the sweet girl look, then definitely choose florals for your outfit. Whether it's a floral top or a floral skirt, florals definitely make everything look girly. This particular top has a scoop back, which is why I got it, and that makes it a little more flirty. If it's cold where you live, then add on a jacket and cozy up with an infinity scarf and cute lace trimmed socks. Also, the jacket helps to add a bit of colour to break the reds in the outfit. I chose a utility jacket because it helps to even out the classy look, so you don't look too overdressed. If you do not need a jacket, then I would actually suggest going with a more structured skater skirt instead. It would help to accentuate your waist line and still give the outfit it's girly vibe.
Rocker Chick
Dress - Brandy Melville | Jacket - Highway Jeans from Wet Seal | Flannel - Light In The Box | Beanie - Wet Seal | Booties - Cici Hot | Sunnies - Forever 21 | Necklaces - Shopxgypsy, IHTEC
This outfit is totally inspired by @rubilove on instagram. I saw one of her outfit layouts and I went, "hey, I could totally make a layout like that too" and I pieced this together! If you are going for a more grungy or if you are more into street wear, then you could try a white skater dress that will always be flattering to your figure. Accentuate your waist and add more details and colours to your outfit with a plaid shirt and top it off with an acid washed denim jacket. Grungy vibes are not complete without some statement accessories so I paired it up with this necklace from Shopxgypsy. You can quote my ig "megoosta" for 5% off your purchase and free mailing in Singapore. Otherwise, go for a crystal necklace, which is the latest jewel trend. The gold plating details on the boots and beanie also oomph to this outfit and make it totally rad. Dig around for some round shades and you are set.
Good Vibes
Plaid hoodieStudded shorts, Thigh high socks - Light In The Box | Halter top, Shoes - Forever 21 | Necklace - IHTEC
If you're just hanging out with your homies or lounging around at home, then perhaps you could opt for this outfit. I paired a cropped halter top, which I'm super obsessed about with some ripped and studded shorts. You can totally DIY your own but this pair from LITB is seriously looking good and they fit well, just a bit big at the legs. Anyway, if you see this top instock, you have to grab yourself one because the design and the cutting is flawless. Plus it is super cheap and affordable on F21. I love wearing it and it is very very versatile. Such an outfit is never complete without plaid so I paired it with a plaid hoodie I found on LITB. It is about 11 bucks, which is very much cheaper than what you find in other retail stores. It isn't made of thick flannel material but just normal cotton, so that's good or bad depending on how you like your plaid shirts. Hooded stuff are just in right now though.
Not-so-plain-Jane
Jacket - Styles For LessFloral cutout tank, Cable knit socks - Light In The Box | Skirt - Lookbook Store | Booties - Cici Hot | Floral Crown - Mad For Halos (use code "huiying" for 15% off) | Sunnies - Forever 21
Another simple and plain, yet sweet and girly look is to pair a fancy white shirt with a skirt and jacket or blazer. I chose a utility jacket for this look but I think a casual blazer will suit it as well, but you might want to replace the socks with tights instead. This tank has laser cutout details that make it more interesting, rather than just a plain white tee. The details are brought out even further by layering it over a solid coloured skirt. Add a couple of simple necklaces if you still find it too plain.
All Prepped Up
Hearts All Over Blouse, Grey knitted scarf, Lace trimmed socks - Light In The Box | Cardigan, skirt- Forever 21 | Booties - Cici Hot
This is one of my favourite outfits for v-day. For all the monochrome fans out there, this is your outfit. This adorable heart printed blouse can be worn under a pinafore or with a black skirt, and infinity scarf. To add a little more detail and texture to the outfit, I chose a leather skirt and a marled knitted cardigan to throw over. The lace trimmed socks will be adding more cuteness to the outfit and lastly, the booties give the outfit all the glam it needs.

Sexy Back
Heart Cut Out Tank, Studded shorts, Lace trimmed socks - Light In The Box | Floral caged bralette, Sunnies - Forever 21 | Jacket - Styles For Less | Floral Crown - Mad For Halos (use code "huiying" for 15% off) | Booties - Cici Hot
Yet another cool and casual outfit but this one comes with a sexy heart cut-out back design. I love anything with hearts and I actually had a phase with heart cut-out backs before. In last year's v-day lookbook, I posted an outfit with a heart cut-out back and it is still my favourite dress for V-day because it is so suitable for the theme. If you do not feel like dressing up much because you don't have a date, but you don't want to feel left out in the V-day dressing game either, you can check out this top. Match it with one of your cool bralettes to show off that sexy back. The front of this top is quite simple so I suggest going for some simple jewellery as well and ripped shorts for added details.
Sweet Pastels
Cardi, Skirt - Forever 21 | Knitted crochet top - Urban Girl Co. | Scarf, Socks - Light In The Box | Bow - Oh My Bows | Booties - Cici Hot
This is my go-to style - the sweet and flirty kind of look. Pair a crop top with a floral skirt and you are already looking way too cute. Add some lace trimmed socks and you are an adorable cutie pie. If it is chilly, throw on a knitted cardigan and scarf as well because they're just gonna make you look all the more cozy and huggable.

I hope you've gotten lots of ideas on how to dress up this valentine's day. I will update this post if I wear any of these outfits or make new ones.

Wild Daisy Whipped Soaps

I've been into sweet scents and all things that smell good recently. I came across these whipped soaps over at Wild Daisy and decided to pick some up because they sounded so so so tempting. They just look like whipped cream and they do feel like that too! They were priced at $7 each and shipping was also around $7. Apart from whipped soaps, Wild Daisy also carries sugar scrubs and bar soaps in the same sweet scents so there is a wide variety of soaps to choose from their body range. After careful consideration, I picked out Candy Cane (my number one choice because I am a huge peppermint lover), Cookie and Pumpkin Spice. I decided to treat myself to this and bought them over Christmas. I only just recently shipped them back home and tried it out.

These soaps come in rather small jars of 113g each. They are really light and fluffy in texture, which never ceases to amaze me and have amazing smells. They are all infused with jojoba beads to provide some exfoliation and they lather up pretty well. A little definitely goes a long way. I usually scoop up a dime's worth and that lathers up just enough for me. The difference between whipped soaps and normal soaps is that the lather feels extra smooth and creamy. The foam is richer and thicker than liquid soaps. Bath times are so much more fun now, thanks to these soaps.
Pumpkin Spice has a orangey pink colour to it and mostly smells like cinnamon. I'm not sure how pumpkin is supposed to smell like but I think it is really subtle. The cinnamon is stronger. It is looking amazingly soft in the jar right now and so tempting to eat. LOL.
Candy cane was the one that got me the most. It was the reason why I wanted to buy these soaps in the first place. I love all things peppermint and holiday scents anytime of the year is always great because it just fills you with good cheer and memories. This one definitely smells just like candy canes/peppermint because it is infused with peppermint oils and the colour is so on point. Again, I love the texture of how this is looking.
I've actually only tried out the Cookie one so far because it arrived in a less than perfect state as shown. It actually smells more like buttered popcorn to me, rather than cookies. It's got that coconut smell to it and I guess in some way, it could be a Christmas cookie kind of scent but I think of buttered popcorn jelly beans when I smell this. It's got a slight brownish colour and feels absolutely amazing. It lathers up to a rich thick white foam and slides on smoothly. The smell does stay on for a few hours after my bath so I like that.

Out of curiosity, I googled how whipped soaps are made and man, they take a lot of effort and time, but it definitely seems fun and the whipped form gets me really excited (call me weird). But basically, you put a bunch of chemicals together to form your soap solution and then whisk it with an electric whisker until it gets all white, soft, foamy, poofy, squishy, looking just like whipped cream. Then, you gotta let it cure for a month before adding colouring or scents to it. It's a long process but you can make a hell lot of it, if you're into making your own soaps. I think I'd just pay for mine but I'd like to try it out one day.

I definitely recommend these soaps to everyone because the texture is so interesting and I love the whipped cream look it has. It is the most amazing form of soap I have ever tried and I will be coming back to whipped soaps once I've finished these. I think one tub can last me 3-4 months, so it's not bad at all in my opinion. Do grab one because they sell out fast. Words cannot describe how much I am in love with this.

lookbookstore january picks

It's been awhile since I last updated this space. I am back with a haul featuring some items I picked out from Lookbook Store this month.
from: Lookbook Store
I actually picked this sweater because I saw it styled so well on another fellow Insta-fashionista, but it didn't turn out so well on me. The sweater is slightly baggy so it would fit someone with a wider frame. I'm just too petite. I think it would be fine for the average person and it would look so fab especially with a skirt.
from: Lookbook Store
I've seen this styled as a sweater dress many times so I had to get it too because it's still the season of sweaters and sweater dressing. I like the marled knitted details and it can be worn off shoulder as well. It is really quite long so if you are around 5' to 5'4, it should work well as a sweater dress for you.
from: Lookbook Store
This is the same thing as the grey one above, just that it's in maroon. Maroon is always a trending colour when it comes to autumn and winter. I added some neutral colours to stay in season.
from: Lookbook Store
I am completely swept away by this cardigan. It is incredibly soft and comfortable. It may look chunky but it does not weigh you down when you wear it and the tassel fringe details are quite cool, in my opinion. They give off boho vibes and add details to a plain jane outfit like this. It's also available in mustard so check that out.
