ColourPop x Hello Kitty Collection

I'm not a fan of Hello Kitty but I have definitely become a fan of ColourPop for their super pigmented and long lasting products at a low cost. Plus, their packaging is so photogenic and always so fun to play with. When they released their Hello Kitty collection on 10 November, I had to pick up some of the items that were calling to me.
I got Mama's Apple Pie which is the eyshadow quad, a lippie stix in Konnichiwa, an ultra metallic lip in Surprise, an ultra glossy lip in Supercute and and ultra satin lip in Tiny Chum.

I had wanted to pick up the other two ultra glossy lips too because they had glitter in them and I am a sucker for anything that sparkles but they are kinda bright so I'm not sure if I will use them often. Also, the Hello Pretty kit had a gorgeous dark red ultra matte lip which I really want and love but until they release it as a single, I guess I will never have it. $42 for the kit really isn't worth the money. If you total up the cost of the products, you would only be saving a dollar on it. I guess, you do get a nice box with a mirror inside but really?

This collection features a blue, red and silver packaging that is slightly reflective and totally american flag colors.
Mama's Apple Pie comes in a box with a Hello Kitty sleeve. It's $18 for four shades - Rainbow, Friendship File, Small Gift and School Bus.
The box is scattered with Hello Kitty's bows and you can see the collaboration info on the top. It says "Hello Pretty" at the bottom which is always flattering ;)

Rainbow
"Glitter sheer finish white with highlights of silver and pink glitter"
Click on the pictures to zoom in if you need. This one is a super glittery white shadow that is great for highlighting the inner corners or to layer on another color to add some sparkles. It is definitely less pigmented because it is a sheer shadow. I did not really notice pink glitters but I might need to look again.

Friendship File
"Metallic finish warm peachy beige dusted with silver and pink glitter"
I think this shade falls under the rose gold spectrum that they currently have in their normal range - the ones like La La, Weenie, Wattles, etc. It is very similar to those. This is like a metallic peach bronze since it is on the lighter side. It is also very glittery with tons of silver, pink and blue sparkles.

Small Gift
"Pearlized finish mid tone peachy pink"
The website described it as pearlized and I think it is a pearlized shadow too but I have no idea why my pot says metallic. It definitely isn't as sparkly as the previous two and this one is like a salmon pink with silver and peach pink pearls.

School Bus
"Pearlized finish deep navy blue"
This is a true navy blue with blue, purple and silver pearls. It's not as shiny as Small Gift but the sparkles do stand out against this color.
Ignore the bad swatch of School Bus. The shades are actually very pigmented and true to ColourPop's reputation of pigmentation (apart from Rainbow being a sheer shade).

This is the look I came up using all four of these shades for my Asian-ass eyes. I used Friendship File all over my eyes and Small Gift on the outer corner. I had thought of tapping on some Friendship File over Small Gift for more glitter and dimension but I messed up so I forgot. Rainbow didn't pick up well with my brush but it is at the inner corner of my eye. It'd be better to go in on it with your finger. Finally, I lined my lower lash line with School Bus. You could line your upper lash line with it too and even use it to make a wing instead of using eyeliner.

The lip products come in a slightly reflective blue box with red tips.

Konnichiwa (Lippie Stix)
"Creme finish mid-toned cool blue pink"
This one wore brighter than expected. I had expected it to be a muted dusty mauve pink but it is a true pink shade. The formula didn't glide as smoothly though and it felt a tad sticky when applying but it feels moisturizing and smooth once on the lips. Of course, this would transfer.

Surprise (Ultra Metallic Lip)
"Metallic finish dynamic cool-toned ruby red topped with copper and hot pink glitter"
Who doesn't love a good blue red. The pigmentation is intense and the color is so festive and pretty! It's not very glittery but it does produce a metallic sheen so I'm loving this. These will transfer like all of their other metallic shades.

Supercute (Ultra Glossy Lip)
"Sheer finish bright warm pink doused with pink glitter"
For some reason, it looks duo-chrome in the bottle but maybe that's reflection? The application was a bit sticky and very very sheer. You will need to pack this on for more color. It is made up of a ton of pink glitter so you can use it on it's own or as a topper.

Tiny Chum (Ultra Satin Lip)
"Satin finish baby nude pink"
Not as purple as Lumiere 2 and not as pink as Clueless. This is the perfect balance between the both of them and a shade that I have been looking for a long time. The application was very smooth and pigmented. It still has a sticky feeling after drying down so it definitely is not transfer proof.

Lock Diary (Ultra Satin Lip)
"A deep fuschia"
Update: Got this shade plus the three new lippies from their expansion. I thought this was going to be a bright fuschia pink, but luckily, it looks a little more muted. It kinda reminds me of Bad Habit from their ultra matte lip collection (pictured below), but the different lighting here makes it a little hard to tell the difference. Lock Diary could very well be the satin version of it. It applied very smoothly and the consistency was nice and even so I'd say the formula is on point. Since it's a satin finish, it does transfer.

Milk Bottle (Ultra Matte Lip)
"A pretty mid-tone pink"
This is very pink! Looks very close to Solow but it has more pink to it and isn't as bright. I'm not exactly a fan of super pink lips so I'm not sure how to feel about this color but it is not streaky or patchy, applied evenly with one swipe and does not transfer.

Mimmy (Ultra Matte Lip)
"A rich smoky mauve"
Really digging this plum purple mauve but the edges do bleed a little and if it wears throughout the day, you'd see the hot pink base color which is not fabulous at all. It dried a tad patchy too so that's something to consider about this shade. Otherwise, it does not transfer.

Ribbon (Ultra Matte Lip)
"A rich blue red"
This is the shade that everyone has been waiting to be released as a single and they finally did! You can go stock up on this pretty deep red because it is seriously perfect. Not too bright and not too dark so it looks great on all skin tones and in pictures too! It took slightly longer to dry so it transferred when I did my kiss test. Otherwise, it applied very smoothly and evenly with one swipe and felt thin and lightweight on my lips. No bleeding whatsoever. Go and get one now.

Real vs Fake Adidas Superstar/Stan Smith

I've wanted to do this post for a long time, ever since I started on my crazy collection of Adidas Superstars. I mean, I think I make quite a credible source because at one point, I owned 14 pairs of Superstars and Stan Smiths. I will be migrating my Superstar collection post over to this blog over the coming days so that you can read up on where I got them. I'm not sure if these shoes are still as popular and wanted now because I am sort of out of the loop but if you are looking to get yourself a pair of Superstars or Stan Smiths, these are a few pointers to look out for in identifying if what you are buying is real or fake. Take note that these features are mostly applicable to recent releases only. Old models and Superstar 80s are slightly different. Then again, old models are not sold in stores anymore so if you find brand new pairs elsewhere, you should be cautious.  I owned a a few pairs of fake Superstars before I purchased my first original pair from the Adidas

Arctic Fox Hair Dye Review on Dark Unbleached Hair

I've been meaning to try Arctic Fox's hair dyes for a couple of years but never got around to it because I feared it wouldn't show up on dark hair. It's been coming up more and more on Instagram again so I did some research and apparently Purple Rain, Aquamarine and Poseidon do show up on dark hair. So that's what I purchased! These retail for $7.99 (4 fl oz) or $13.99 (8 fl oz) on the Arctic Fox website but I got mine off Amazon .  Arctic Fox hair dyes are vegan and cruelty free. They also do not contain harsh chemicals like peroxides, ammonia and PPD. These are semi-permanent and they contain conditioning agents which means you can use these dyes as often as you want to without damaging your hair. Semi-permanent hair dyes only coat your hair so it will fade with each wash. The bottle claims that it can last up to 40 washes. These smell like grape candy so it is such a treat to use them. The instructions to use this is pretty simple. 1. Shampoo and w

Lonely Planet/Atomic Makeup Silky Matte Liquid Lipstick Swatches & Review

Lipstick swatches are one of my favorite things to do so I gathered my Lonely Planet Cosmetics liquid lipsticks and did a swatch and review in my latest YouTube video. Earlier on this year, Lonely Planet Cosmetics announced that they were going to hold their anniversary sale as well as closeout sale because they were going to shift their headquarters to New York and rebrand to Atomic Makeup. So when the sale came around, everything was 50% off. Their liquid lipsticks were typically $15 for 8ml so they were marked down to $7.50 and some of them were even $5. The sale lasted a really long time and I ended up placing 3 separate orders with 24 shades altogether. I think they had a massive range of 35 colors but honestly, their color range isn't very impressive. It is filled with your typical reds, pinks, nudes and browns with a handful of bolder shades. Another thing I noticed when I swatched these is how inaccurate some of the shades have been represented. I remember reading a re
